The Light Within
T
hroughout the 1990’s, artist Robert Hummel helped create parade floats in a former Tootsie Roll factory that became the creative center and design studio for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was there that the use of vivid color to inspire children was a requirement. This requirement, working along side Manfred Bass, the former founding designer and director of the parade, and Robert’s love of children's books, became the inspiration for painting, “The light within Princeton”.

Capturing the radiance of the glow within, and around, Princeton – at dusk and on into the night – Robert’s painted structures warm the heart and light up the soul. Whether a glimmering lamppost or a fireplace glow expressed in a window, Princeton comes brilliantly alive in his use of acrylics on canvas.
These luminous scenes, for Robert, serve as magical reminders that we too – as “structures” have a radiant light within.
Robert accepts commissions to paint new images, and mural size creations. You may contact him directly at 609-571-2200 on via email found on the contact page.

Artist Robert Hummel has been creating his bright and colorful luminous paintings since the year 2000.
Robert's
Princeton Art Impressions are collected by residents of Princeton, University Alumni, executives and professionals, corporate offices and industry leaders, celebrities, visitors  and anyone who has an affinity for the town and University and its beautiful iconic buildings. Paintings are in private collections that span the globe.
His paintings had been seen in the past for over 15 years regularly at Chez Alice Gourmet Bakery and Cafe on Palmer Square in Princeton. I was honored to be asked to exhibit twice on campus at Princeton University in a solo show.  A two month solo exhibit exhibit took place at the beautiful prestigious 'Nassau Club of Princeton" in 2018. Larger creations, 3 x 10 foot mural of Nassau Street at night can be seen at the Ivy Inn Princeton commissioned by the owners. A War of the Worlds themed  4 x 6 1/2 foot painting lives at the Grovers Mill Coffee House in West Winsdsor NJ inspired from the Orson Welles 1938 broadcast. (Facebook.com/War Of The Worlds Battle At Grovers Mill) A regular contributor to charity and fundraising events since 2001 throughout the area such as the Junior League of Princeton, Saint Paul's School, Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, The Hun School, Princeton Chamber and many others. Contact Robert for special commissions or to purchase paintings and limited edition prints. Call to make an appointment to visit his art studio/gallery. A beautiful thank you note to me from Brooke Shields after she received a selection of prints from my Princeton collection of images. One particular was a painting I had done for an executive who owns the apartment that she once rented on Palmer Square while living and attending Princeton University. Number 65 Palmer Square not far from the cafe that exhibits my latest Princeton creations and across from The Nassau Inn where her  photo hangs on the Princeton University wall of fame. Others on that wall include a very young Jimmy Stewart, Donald Rumsfeld
and many more.
